These tools "fill" parts of your course with different terrain (such as sand, green, and so forth), or change the elevation of different areas of your course.
These tools can be used for everything from making a river to raising a mountain to laying down a nice green. (This is the ideal tool for making a Devils Tower on your course.)
Select any region you want to change, using either the Area Selector Tools, or the Shape Selector tools.
If no areas are selected, the Fill Tools will fill one small grid patch per click.
From Terrain Types, choose the kind of terrain you want to place in your selected area(s).
Then select the kind of terrain from the Terrain Types.
Then select the Fill Terrain Tool and click within the selection, or just on your course if no area has been selected.
The Fill Relief tool lets you raise and lower the elevation of sections of your course.
Selecting the Fill Relief brings up a dialog box:
Select Clip by Selection if you want to affect only the ground within the selected area. Otherwise it will affect single small grid squares.
Altitude: Abs
The figure typed in the box represents the absolute height above ground zero. The unit of measurement is whatever unit you've chosen for your Z axis. If you have a green at a height (Z axis in the status bar) of 16 yards and you specify 17 yards Absolute, your selection will fill in one yard above the green.
Absolute altitude settings cannot go below 0 yards.
Altitude: Rel
The figure typed in the box represents the height relative to the ground the selection is on. If you set Relative altitude to one yard, your selection will rise one yard above the surrounding ground.
Smooth
This setting controls how smooth the change in altitude will be on a scale of 0 to 10. The lower the smooth number, the less smooth the edits will be. A value of 10 is almost completely flat.
